Trick 'r Treat movie trailer - U.S. Release Halloween Day 2008
With tomorrow being Halloween I figured i would share a couple trailers from scary movies. the first one comes out on Halloween Day.
The film is called "Trick 'r Treat", and actually looks pretty good.
Here is the plot synopsis direct from Warner Brothers Pictures -
It is said that Halloween is the night when the dead rise to walk among us and other unspeakable things roam free. The rituals of All Hallows Eve were devised to protect us from their evil mischief, and one small town is about to be taught a terrifying lesson that some traditions are best not forgotten. Nothing is what it seems when a suburban couple learns the dangers of blowing out a Jack-o-Lantern before midnight; four women cross paths with a costumed stalker at a local festival; a group of pranksters goes too far and discovers the horrifying truth buried in a local legend; and a cantankerous old hermit is visited by a strange trick-or-treater with a few bones to pick. Costumes and candy, ghouls and goblins, monsters and mayhem... the tricks and treats of Halloween turn deadly as strange creatures of every variety-human and otherwise-try to survive the scariest night of the year.
The film was written and directed by Michael Dougherty who is also the executive producer on the movie. His only other directing experience was for 1996's animated "Season's Greetings" which he also wrote, and also focused on Halloween. Has has also written the screenplays for X2 (the first X-Men sequel), Superman Returns, and next year's Charlie Chan movie. His biggest upcoming project though is probably "I, Lucifer". The plot line for that is God gives Satan one last chance to redeem himself. All he has to do is live as a "blameless" life as a human. That one will star new 007, Daniel Craig and Ewan McGregor.
The cast includes a lot of names many might not recognize, including a few actors from the failed TV show "Drive." The biggest names are probably Anna Paquin whose biggest role has been as rogue in the X-Men series. Leslie Bibb who has been in TV shows like "Popular", "Line of Fire", and brief stints on "Crossing Jordan", and "E.R."
As I said, it looks like a decent horror flick to me. It seems to be in that perfect campy format that so many horror films wind up. It has worked before, why can't it work again?
What do you think of the trailer?

I actually hadn't heard about it until the other day. This is always the problem with some movies. Without the huge rollout of advertising dollars many of the smaller films go rather unnoticed.

I, Lucifer sounds intriguing, although as much as I liked Ewan in Trainspotting, I've never liked him in anything he's done since.

Strangely, I, Lucifer is listed as a comedy-horror. Not sure how that will work. Especially since I don't really see Craig and McGregor fitting in with comedy.
This one does seem to have a slightly darker side to it. We'll just have to wait and see.
