The 80-Metre Stiletto Heel Dash to be Added for the London Games?
Well that will probably never happen, but this week in Sydney, Australia a group of 265 women set a new world record. The record, most women to run an 80-metre dash while wearing 75mm Stiletto heels. For those that have no idea how big a millimeter is, that is about a 3-inch heel.
18-year-old Britney McGlone won the race by a decent margin as you can see in the below video of the race. Aside from going into the record books, Britney received a shoe trophy covered in gold sparkle paint, a real pair of gold stilettos, and $5,000 Australian dollars.
Britney did however have an advantage over the rest of the field. You see, she is normally a 400-metre hurdler. You never know, she just might show up in London in 2012. Especially if they make the rest of the Australian team wear 3-inch heels at team qualifications.
They actually shattered the old world record, yes there was a previous record. It was set in the Netherlands by a paltry 150 women.
Medical official were on hand to care for some ankle injuries, and the ladies lost quite a few heels along the way.
