Corrections To My Story: Virginity Auction – Let the Bidding Begin
As you may have seen in the comments below I had e-mailed Natalie Dylan to ask what the current bidding was up to in the auction, as well as asking if she would be willing to answer a few questions for me.
Natalie responded to me today and pointed out that some of the facts in my story were inaccurate. I apologized and explained how I had used information from various sources, including a newspaper article that gave me the three incorrect facts. I went on to say how I would correct the errors. Rather than just correcting them and leaving the post, I am also reposting the article as new in hopes that those who have read it already might see the corrections.
Natalie has pointed out that she never attempted to have the auction listed on eBay. She also never said that she was expecting the auction to reach $1 million. The thirdd and possibly most important fact I need to correct is that her sister did indeed work at the Bunny Ranch, however she is NOT currently employed there. She did work there two years ago, but only for about three weeks.
Again, I would like to apologize to Natalie, and her sister for the inaccuracies. If I had known those facts were incorrect I certainly would have not included them.

Below is my original story.
A 22-year-old Sacramento State graduate who is going by the pseudonym Natalie Dylan for safety purposes is in the process of auctioning off her virginity.
Dylan said, “The main purpose of this is to finance a couple things in my life. I think empowerment of women is picking yourself up and doing something on your own to better yourself.” She is hoping the winning bid will approach $1 million. She already has a degree in Women’s Studies, but wants to continue on to get her master’s degree in Psychology so in the end she can practice Family Psychology.
Dylan has also taken a polygraph test to prove her virginal status, but would be willing to undergo a medical exam if necessary.
She attempted to hold the auction on eBay, but they turned her away since in their long list of terms they specifically say, “There will be no auctioning of the innocent or sacrificing of virgins.” OK, their terms do not really state that, but nonetheless they turned her away.
Enter Dennis Hof’s Bunny Ranch in Carson City, Nevada. Hof told CBS13 out of Sacramento that since eBay rejected the idea of the auction that he will handle the entire process. Part of the reason Hof has gotten involved is because Dylan has a sister who is currently working at his Bunny Ranch to make money to pay off her own school bills.
Hof went on to explain how Dylan will consider a number of factors in her decision. She wants her first time to be a positive experience. So far hundreds of bids have come in to the Bunny Ranch. As of September 11th, 2008 the bidding was in the neighborhood of $250,000. I could not find a more up to date figure, but I am sure it has gone up since.
She does contend that she will not necessarily give up her virginity to the highest bidder because she is also seeking other qualities from her first lover. Dylan said, “I’m looking for intelligence and an overall nice person.”
Hof also explained how part of the reason Dylan needs some financial help is because her step-father used her college status to fraudulently apply for student loans, and then disappeared with the money.
The reaction that people have been reporting is mixed, as can be expected. I think looking back many people would trade their first sexual experience for say half a million to a million dollars. Of course at the age that the majority of people lose their virginity it would be against quite a few laws. For those that might say this will break some laws too, prostitution is legal in most of Nevada.

Under Nevada state law, any county with a population under 400,000, as of the last decennial census, is allowed to license brothels if it so chooses. As of the most recent census in 2000, only Clark County (which contains Las Vegas) had a population above 400,000. Incorporated towns and cities in counties that allow prostitution may regulate the trade further or prohibit it altogether.
So, as you can see it is technically legal. The only legal question I have is if it is legal for people in other states or countries to be bidding online. Although, I know in eBay’s terms they say all disputes will be settled under the laws of the state where their offices are located. That could be the loophole they are citing. I am sure they checked into all of those regulations though.

I am originally from our nation's capital which has a relatively small population of around 330,000people and a very popular university. It also has the honour of being known as the porn capital because the sex industry is legalised and regulated and it is one of the only places where it is legal to produce porn.
Many of the uni students in Canberra also work in brothels, it's very well known there. There are a lot of people who paid for their degrees by selling their bodies. I can't say I'm surprised by this.

The Bunny Ranch actually has a show on TV. It is on HBO or Showtime I think. I remember hearing how quite a few of the girls are doing just that, working their way through school. They do however do things in a very careful and highly protected way. lol After reading that as I typed it let me explain - by highly protected I mean cameras in every room and someone monitoring everything to keep the women safe.
I must say though 8500 seems way too low. Approaching a million dollars is actually going to be a bit impressive. I also like how she says the winner may not be the highest bidder.

That is rather odd. I know HOW it happened, but not sure how it happened there.
I also use Amazon's affiliate links in many of my posts. What I used in this post was called a "Context Link" code. What it does is picks out keywords within the POST and makes them links to different products that match the keyword.
It is NOT supposed to do it anywhere other than in the actual post itself. Don't know how it extended into the comments area. This is the first time it has done that on any of my posts.
It isn't gremlins though.

I think it would fall into a couple of those categories. not sure which one they used to reject her. I threw in the Human Parts and Remains even though they mean something entirely different than my train of thought.
Plus if they had let her list it with them she was legally entered into a contract to sell to the highest bidder. So, she is better off not going through them anyway, so she can add in her other factors to the choosing of the winner.
By the way, something that has nothing to do with any of this, but that I learned when I pulled up their restricted items list - You can't sell Political Memorabilia on eBay.

Guys PLEASE explain to me what the great salivation over a girl's virginity is? OK, possibly bad choice of wording then but moving on.

Nahh, your OPINION would only piss off a few people, and the majority of them are only ever looking at political posts. I think everyone commenting here so far realizes everyone is allowed to their own opinion. Although a few of them i don't exactly know well, and only one of them I truly know.
You make very good points by the way. I think it is just something that somehow gets put in people's heads at some point in their early years. How it is something special, and nowadays it is rare to have someone make it to their late teens as a virgin. So, I guess that increases the "fantasy" side of it maybe.

Reminds me of this story about a chick who was busting around the humanities department waving a piece of paper yelling out 'free sexual favors for anyone who does my h/w', asked what her paper was on she replied 'the advancement of women in history' or something. I don't think the one in your story is quite the same. This woman will be getting upwards of half a million dollars, and then will earn her second degree. While the one you speak of was only getting a single piece of homework done, and from the sounds of it may have ended up dropping out eventually.
I am curious. . . your interest was piqued enough to ask what the paper was on - did you wind up doing her homework?

Of course we are all a bit clumsy in bed at times - "ow, you are on my hair!!" - "ouch, move your knee, move your knee!"
I hadn't thought about that angle. I guess that is part of the appeal for guys - knowing that at least for a time they were that particular woman's "best." Although as someone had professed earlier many women find their first sexual experience to be painful - so unless they stuck around for awhile it would be hard to call the very first time "the best."

Tragic if you think you're that inept. And it wouldn't be "from that moment" it would be "for that moment" . The more experienced both lovers are the better the sex because you know what you like and how to get it.
Sex is always a little clumsy...as Gene said, knees in the wrong place or getting your hair caught plus there are noises and face pulling etc. The point is, the best lover is one that wants to please the other and is willing to take a bit of direction as well as give it. If you're willing to put in the effort THEN you'll be the best a woman has ever had and it will be because she's comparing you to others...but not for the reasons you think.

Now, as for this; I'm not here to pass judgment on anyone. Not Natalie, not the person who ends up being the winner..I've never had any problem with legalized prostitution. I lived in a country for 3 years where it was sometimes the only way a poor and uneducated girl could feed her family. HOWEVER--the mindset in that country is not the mindset in the U.S. Prostitution is seen as a legitimate way to earn a living there, though not a preferable one. Just pointing that out.
To simplify even further, we had a saying in the Navy. It's a little rough but it gets the point across: You can suck one c**k and go on to build a thousand bridges, but you'll still always be remembered as a c**ksucker.
She can get her tuition money however she pleases. I just hope that, being American and living in a society that is infamous for its puritanical streak, she can avoid an almost inevitable crash in self-esteem later in life.
