Visit the Lake of the Clouds

If you are looking for a back to nature, uncrowded and spectacular experiences visit Lake of the Clouds in the Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park in the Upper Peninsula of Michigan. The State Park itself is over 60,000 acres, 24 miles of Lake Superior (one of the Great Lakes) shoreline and has recreational activities for every member, age and skill level in the family. There are hiking, biking, swimming, fishing, hunting, wildlife viewing and camping opportunities. There are modern campgrounds, rental cabins, and yurts, rustic campgrounds, and even walk in primitive campgrounds. The Park has facilities for the longest of the RV’s to the smallest of the pup tents. No matter what your preference there is a place for you in Porcupine Mountains Wilderness State Park. With all that being said the one place everyone visits in the park is the place called Lake in the Clouds.
Lake of the Clouds is a lake that can be viewed from an escarpment 600 feet above it, the Lake of the Clouds Overlook. Visitors look down upon this gorgeous lake surrounded by a massive green forest.
