Judge Allows 9 Year Old New Zealand Girl to Change Name

Judge Allows 9 Year Old New Zealand Girl to Change Name

We may have just found the worst legal name for a person EVER!

In Wellington, New Zealand Judge Rob Murfitt is allowing a nine year old girl to change her name. He commented, “The court is profoundly conderned about the very poor judgement which this child’s parents have shown in choosing this name. It makes a fool of the child and sets her up with a social disability and handicap, unnecessarily.”

The girls lawyer, Colleen MacLeod had said the little girl was so embarrassed by her name that she would tell people to just call her, “K.”

So, are you wondering what this little girl’s name was for the first years of her life, until today? Well here it is. . .
Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii

Someone is going to have to share this story with poor little Dixon and Willoughby Partlin when he or she is teased for the hundredth time over their name.

The girl formerly known as Talula Does The Hula From Hawaii’s name was not released for sake of her privacy, but we can rest assured that it is much better than her original name.

Judge Murfitt listed some other unusual names in his ruling, they included; “Fish and Chips”, “Yeah Detroit”, “Keenan Got Lucy”, and “Sex Fruit.” Brian Clarke, the registrar general of Births, Deaths and Marriages in New Zealand said that “New Zealand law does not allow names that would cause offense to a reasonable person, among other conditions.”

Well, that's worse than the names I had in mind, a lot worse, ALL of those are worse, so hopefully mine would still be legal

Hi Dianna,

What was the name you had in mind? Unless of course you want it to remain original and don't want to list it here for someone to steal out from under you.

Litharukia. Which if anyone ever stole from me, I would growl and yell PLAGIARISM, because it's a character from a book, and my username everywhere. But, I wouldn't be mad, for reasons stated below. I'd just be like 'grr. Oh well.'

(OK, I was thinking probably Neavera, but still, character from a book. XD.)

And my second son, if I had one-first is going to be Shane-would be Touchstone.

Anyone who gets the reference that last one is for, I love you.

Well that certainly is a unique name, Dianna. Is it from a work you have written? I am betting it would get by the name judges deciding on whether or not to use let you use it.

Litharukia is from a book of mine.

Touchstone is from the Abhorson trilogy by Garth Nix.

Neavera is also from the same book as Lith.
