What Would You Do if You Had $3 Million in Gold?
I bet I know what you didn’t say.
You didn’t say build an unusual statue of Kate Moss, did you? Marc Quinn has created a $3 million golden statue of model Kate Moss. The statue of moss weighs about 110 pounds, and is the largest gold statue created since Egyptian times.
If that isn’t strange enough, the pose that Quinn has put Moss in certainly is. Even though she sat for him at one point he chose to an entirely different yoga type pose with her legs behind her head, as you can see in the pictures.
The 18 carat gold statue which is named “Siren” is on display in the British Museum’s “Statuephilia” exhibit. It is sitting alongside statues of Greek Gods and Goddesses like Aphrodite, as well as many others. The exhibit started on October 4th and will run through January 25th, 2009.
Quinn is expecting to sell the statue for more than $15 million.
Personally I find it all a bit disturbing. I have a hunch Moss would never be able to get into this pose. I could think of dozens of women that would be much better models, and would be a much better place for Quinn to put his obsessions.
What do you think of this unique statue?

Maybe the artists should take over the financial sectors of the world. lol They can turn $3 into $15 million this easy. that could dig us all out of a big hole.

lol exactly.
You know I could even see if maybe the statue was a little more life-like. Maybe have her holding a rolled up $100 bill in her hand with a few tiny specs of white gold on it or something, but why an odd looking yoga pose? lol

Just imagine if he had done the statue of someone people still cared about in the "celebrity" eye.
I bet one of Oprah or J-Lo would get twice that.

(Morgan? I used J-Lo in that reference just for you to make up for what I said on the Transformers post.)
