Friday the 13th – The Remake Trailer and Details

It is true what they say – everything does come back into style. There is a remake of “Friday the 13th” coming out this year. It will be released on Friday, February 13th, 2009. Happy Valentine’s Day!
I must preface my thoughts on this movie by saying I loved the original and many of the sequels, as well as the 2003 remake of, “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” (This part will matter in a minute.)
I think this film will be a huge blockbuster hit! The trailer makes it look amazing. It looks like it will stick to the original look of the movie, and will have the improved special effects of today.
It is being directed by Marcus Nispel who also directed the 2003 remake of (have you guessed what I am about to say?) “The Texas Chainsaw Massacre.” I think he did a great job with that remake, as did Tobe Hooper, the director of the original Chainsaw. He said it was done so well that it makes a nice accompaniment piece to his original masterpiece.
What will push the film over the top though is its cast.

Jared Padalecki (Supernatural, Gilmore Girls, House of Wax ), Danielle Panabaker (Shark, Empire Falls ), Amanda Righetti (The Mentalist, The O.C., North Shore, Reunion ), Travis Van Winkle (Transformers ), Willa Ford (“Musician”, Dancing with the Stars ), Ryan Hansen (Veronica Mars) Jonathan Sadowski (American Dreams, Terminator: The Sarah Connor Chronicles ), Ben Feldman (Living with Fran ), Nana Visitor (Star Trek: Deep Space Nine ), and more.
I certainly am looking forward to this one coming out. If my wife didn’t despise horror flicks I might have tried to take her to see it for Valentine’s Day. She is still very upset with me for convincing her to watch Maximum Overdrive with me. It went decent until the electric knife scene. At that point I got hit rather hard a few times.
Anyway, what do you think of the new remake of Friday the 13th?
