September 13th 2008 22:44
I was wondering around the internet and came across some great pictures of endangered and threatened animals. After seeing them I thought back to Morgan Bell's post "Modern Day Extinction", and figured it would be a good accompanying post.

TGS,

I can't tell you how much this list and these beautiful images make me want to run for the wine int he fridge (long before midday)... truly, it saddens me to the core and is probably why i'll end up in the-rape-y.

so much diversity is currently vanishing to the suburban adaptors - the scavengers - those who can live with the polluting ways of man(un)kind. Racoons, Crows and rats... is this to be the animal kingdom of our future?

Hi Lilla,

I agree is is truly saddening and the list is much too long.

Even sadder, regarding your raccoons, crows and rats comment - apparently we have already started on them too.

Mariana Crow
The Mariana Crow

Hawaiian Crow
The Hawaiian Crow

False Water Rat
The False Water Rat - Native to Queensland, Australia

All three of those are also endangered.

Hi katyzzz,

Some of these images make me wanna go out, get the training, and become a wildlife photographer. Nice to still come up with a dream in my late 30s lol.

Well Morgan, if not for your post when I saw these pics I may not have said, "oh, I should post those." So another link to your Dodo Bird made perfect sense.

I think my favorite might be the Jaguar.

A friend made a comment when seeing the Canada Lynx. She said with the size of its legs it looks like it could be a bear. Her favorite was the sea otter. She seems to be obsessed with them.
