World Economy in Turmoil is Good for One Thing – Gas Prices
Thanks to the failing U.S. economy, which has dragged down the entire world economy gas prices have plummeted. The price of a barrel of oil has dipped to about $60. The average price for a gallon of regular unleaded in the United States is now listed at $2.656.
In an AOL article they also list the average prices for each region of the U.S. their stats show that the Gulf Coast is the lowest at $2.46 a gallon, followed by the Midwest at $2.497, the East Coast at $2.684, the Rocky Mountain region at $2.762, and finally the West Coast at $3.05 a gallon. AAA has reported that only Alaska, California, and Hawaii have an average price above $3 a gallon.
Their article also has Oklahoma listed at $2.29 a gallon on average. Here in Tulsa though our price hit $2.09 today. I believe we will reach a major milestone by the weekend, and get below $2 a gallon for the first time in nearly two years.
Sadly OPEC met last Friday to put a stop to the price dropping. They decided to cut back on production to help stimulate the price of a barrel. So, we better enjoy it while we can. Anyone know where I can fine some empty 55 gallon barrels so I can stockpile this $2 a gallon gas out in the back yard?
Anyway, the purpose for this post is to see what everyone else is paying for a gallon of gas or petrol nowadays. So, how much do you pay for a gallon?
