There are just a few simple things to prepare and then you two can be off for some leisurely romantic time together. First, know where you are going. Pick your spot. Make it someplace where there are not a kids running around all over making noise and creating commotion. How about down on the beach, off away from the swimmers? Or maybe that peaceful way off corner of your local park? Or even a quiet ride down some lonely country road where no one ever goes?
Next thing you should decide on is your menu. Keep it simple! Remember the focus is on each other and not the work preparing the food. Try some meats, cheeses, a few condiments and some small loaves of bread. Create the combinations as you go, and server each other. A taste of this, a smidgen of that and savor the moments. Add some fruit and some decadent chocolate and your food is ready. For a truly special touch add a bottle of a luxurious sparkling bottle of wine. Don't pick your usual favorite. Go for something new, elegant, and reserved for special occasions.
Finally, place in a wonderful picnic basket, that contains two wine glasses, some silver ware, special plates and an elegant picnic blanket. Picnic basket in one hand, and you two holding hands with the other you are off for a few wonderful moments celebrating just the two of you!
